Laminate shingles come in many shapes and sizes. Most common shingles installed in this climate are a double layer shingle that has a manufactorer warranty of 30 years to life based on the company you desire to use. Most popular shingles sold are Malarkey, IMO, Certainteed, and GAF. all manufactured shingles come with a 100% transferable warranty of 10 years with the exception of the Canadian based product IKO that has a 15 year 100% transferable warranty. This means that if you sell your home in the next 10 years your warranty can be transferred to the next owner of that property. Laminate shingles or otherwise know as duroid shingles have changed or the years from T-lock shingles and shingles called 3 tabs that are 1 layer shingles that had no warranty or had warranties that had to be purchased for extended warranty. Today laminate shingles come in stardard 2 layer shingles with max 30 year warranties to 2 and 3 layer multi color shingles and shakes that have very strong warranties and can last up to 50 years.
